Ever stood at a Helsinki bus stop wondering if the 42 is actually coming, or if you should just start walking? Yeah, me too. That’s exactly why I built Reitti.
Reitti is a no-nonsense public transport app for the Helsinki region. It pulls live data straight from HSL’s GTFS feeds and refreshes every 3 seconds, so what you see on screen is what’s actually happening out there — not some wishful schedule from last week.
What It Does
- Real-time arrivals for buses, trams, the metro, commuter trains, and even the Suomenlinna ferry — all five HSL modes in one place
- Updates every 3 seconds from official HSL live data. No cached guesses
- Clean map view showing exactly where your vehicle is right now
- Stop-by-stop view — tap any stop, see every departure, no digging through menus
- Works across the entire HSL area: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Sipoo, Tuusula, and the rest
- No accounts. No ads. No tracking. Just open it and go
Why I Made It
I’ve been using Helsinki transit daily for years. The official HSL app is… fine, I guess. But I wanted something that feels faster, more direct, and works the way I actually use transit — quick stop checks, live vehicle positions, zero friction. Reitti is that app.
It’s completely free and I built it as a side project. No ads, no premium tiers, no data collection. The app uses the same official HSL open data that powers every other transit app in the region — I just think it presents it better.
